We are now in our air conditioned home with internet. We fled north of the border after our power was out for five days. We have pictures and notes on that trip in the next post. But here are our pictures from our unexpected hurrication.
This was taken at 4 AM during Ike. The camera flash takes away from the darkness at that hour. But the boys were ready for battle. Tyler had his headlamp on and Joel was wielding his trusty flashlight.
A few hours later we enjoyed an amazing pop tart breakfast by lantern light. As evidenced by Tyler's face, the excitement of the hurricane was quickly waning.
Here is our street sign that was blown off by the storm.
Here are three sweaty boys huddled around the portable DVD player. Luke didn't care that Monsters, Inc. was on. He was just uncomfortable.
Tyler thought that the power outage was fun at night because he could wear the headlamp everywhere. But during the day he kept asking us to call Handy Manny and Bob the Builder so they could fix our broken house.

Classic. Now that Tyler knows Bob the Builder isn't real, just don't tell him about Santa.
Oh and did you eat un-toasted pop tarts? If you were truly prepared mormons you would have had a camp stove and propane. Geeze.
Tyler is so cute with that head lamp on.
Too cute!! Ummm Ashley the half photo of Luke is not doing it for me... still don't know what he looks like! Hee hee! Glad you are back safe and sound at home with power. Look forward to seeing a blog update from your visit with your parents.
Did you just tell Tyler that Manny couldn't get over to Kelly's hardware store because of the storm?
Loving the headlamps.
Aren't you glad it's over! I'm just finally starting to feel normal again! My two sisters that live in Houston just finally got power today. Crazy!
